The Ranaviru Seva Authority has confirmed that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will attend the National War Heroes’ Day ceremony tomorrow (May 19), marking 16 years since the end of the war.
Retired Brigadier Senarath Kohona, Chairman of the Authority, stated that the event will be held under the President’s leadership, with him serving as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place from 4 PM to 6 PM at the War Heroes’ Memorial in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.
Earlier confusion arose when a Defence Ministry press briefing mentioned that the Deputy Minister of Defence would attend the event representing the President. This led to criticism from certain quarters regarding the President’s absence. However, officials have since clarified that President Dissanayake was always scheduled to attend the ceremony.
