Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) employees have launched a trade union action, protesting the combined timetable for long-distance bus services with private buses.
The SLTB employees refrained from duties, launching the trade union action from midnight yesterday.
The National Transport Commission (NTC) has requested protesting bus unions to continue bus services.
The Transport Ministry, together with the NTC, launched the combined timetable for SLTB and private buses plying from Colombo to Puttalam, Anuradhapura and Jaffna.
However, SLTB bus unions allege that the government was incurring losses due to this combined timetable system. (Newswire)
