A special high court in Anuradhapura has sentenced a man to 32 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl.
The court also ordered the convicted man to pay Rs. 500,000 in compensation to the victim and imposed a fine of Rs. 70,000.
The verdict was delivered by the Anuradhapura Special High Court following a trial based on indictments filed by the Attorney General.
The case relates to an incident reported in July 2016 in the Thambuttegama area.
The accused was found guilty after the court examined the evidence presented during the trial. (Newswire)
