Misty Weekend Haputale 2026 is set to return for its third edition from August 21 to 23, bringing three days of food, music, cultural performances and entertainment to Haputale Railway Station Road.

The food festival is being organised for the third time by the Haputale Tourism and Business Association, as part of efforts to promote Haputale as a tourism destination while supporting businesses in the area.

This year’s event will feature a wide selection of local and international food and beverages, with organisers promising a carnival-style experience for visitors over the three days. Promotional material for the festival also highlights live music and DJ entertainment.

The entertainment programme is expected to include DJ music, Papare and Calypso performances, together with Up-country, Low-country and Northern cultural performances.

Food-related activities will include chef demonstrations and the Kochchi Challenge, while visitors can also take part in games, enjoy a photo booth and stand a chance to win prizes.

Organisers have positioned the festival as an event for families, groups of friends and travellers looking for a weekend experience in Sri Lanka’s hill country. The festival venue has been confirmed as Haputale Railway Station Road, with the event running on August 21, 22 and 23.

Beyond the festival itself, Misty Weekend is aimed at encouraging visitors to spend more time in Haputale and experience the town’s cool climate, tea country and surrounding attractions.

Haputale’s mountain setting and rapidly changing weather have long been part of its appeal, with the town offering access to tea estates, scenic railway journeys and attractions such as Lipton’s Seat and the surrounding hill-country landscape.

For visitors travelling from Colombo and other parts of the country, Misty Weekend offers an opportunity to combine the festival with a short hill-country getaway.

Visitors can spend the evening exploring the food stalls, catch the cultural performances and Papare and Calypso music, stay on for the DJ entertainment, and use the rest of the weekend to explore Haputale and its surroundings.

With food, entertainment and Haputale’s misty mountain atmosphere coming together over three days, organisers hope the third edition will attract both local and visiting travellers while creating greater visibility for tourism and businesses in the region.

Misty Weekend Haputale 2026 will be held on August 21, 22 and 23 at Haputale Railway Station Road. (Newswire)
