Three suspects, including a woman, have been arrested with over 17 kilograms of heroin and ICE narcotics, during a raid conducted in the Piliyandala area, police said.
According to the Police, officers of the Western Province North Crime Division carried out the raid in the Thumbowila area of the Piliyandala Police Division on Thursday (24).
Police recovered 11.69 kilograms of heroin and 6.90 kilograms of ‘ICE’ during the operation.
The arrested suspects include two men aged 24 and 31 and a 27-year-old woman. They are residents of Dehiwala, Embilipitiya and Wegowwa.
Police said the raid was conducted based on information uncovered during the interrogation of another suspect who had previously been arrested with heroin and was being held under detention orders.
According to police, one of the suspects arrested during the latest raid is alleged to have been involved in drug trafficking, while the other man and the woman are suspected of aiding and abetting the operation.
The three suspects are due to be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court today (25), with police expected to seek detention orders for further questioning.
