China Harbour Engineering LLC (CHEC) in Dubai is looking to recruit 2,000 Sri Lankan workers for the expansion of the Al Maktoum International Airport project in Dubai, following discussions with officials from the Sri Lankan Consulate in Dubai.

According to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, CHEC HR Manager met with Consul General Alexi Gunasekera, Head of Chancery Subhashini Silva, and Counsellor (Employment & Welfare) Manorie Vithanapathirana to discuss employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers.

The discussions focused on recruiting skilled and semi-skilled Sri Lankan workers for the ongoing expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, one of Dubai’s largest infrastructure projects. CHEC plans to hire around 2,000 Sri Lankan workers for the project.

The Al Maktoum International Airport expansion is expected to transform the facility into one of the world’s largest aviation hubs, with major construction work planned over the coming years.

The Sri Lankan Consulate said the initiative is expected to create significant overseas employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers while strengthening labour ties between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.  (Newswire)
