A high-level team from the International Cricket Council (ICC), including a senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is expected to visit Sri Lanka following the government’s appointment of an interim body to oversee cricket administration in the country, according to a report by Press Trust of India (PTI).

PTI reported that ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on Friday night and will be followed on Saturday by another ICC official who also holds a top-level role within the BCCI.

Sri Lankan Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, speaking during a television programme, also confirmed that ICC officials are expected to visit Sri Lanka in the near future for discussions.

The development comes after the Sri Lankan government appointed a nine-member committee to oversee Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

On April 29, Minister Gamage appointed the interim panel after SLC President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee resigned from their positions.

The committee has been tasked with handling cricket administration while pursuing reforms and overseeing operations until fresh elections are held. (Newswire / PTI)
