
A delegation led by Kaishanand Giriji Maharaj, chief priest of a Shiva temple in Ayodhya, India, arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday morning for a special visit.
The 14-member delegation, comprising both clergy and lay representatives, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake from New Delhi on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-192.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe was present at the airport to receive the delegation.
During their visit, the group is scheduled to tour several prominent Shiva temples in Sri Lanka, including Thiruketheeswaram in Mannar, Naguleswaram in Jaffna, Koneswaram in Trincomalee, Seetha Amman Temple in Nuwara Eliya, as well as ancient Shiva temple sites in Polonnaruwa.
The visiting delegation is also expected to hold a special discussion with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath during their stay. (Newswire)
