A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
However, mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere on the island.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills.
Meanwhile, showers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
