Police have announced that strict legal action will be taken against buses, three-wheelers and other vehicles that fail to remove illegal modifications fitted with dangerous devices.

Police said they will obtain official prohibition orders from vehicle inspectors to take action against such vehicles, stressing that these modifications pose a serious risk to public safety.

Meanwhile, police have been instructed to file attempted murder charges against drivers who endanger the lives of police officers by attempting to flee after committing traffic violations.

Police also confirmed that the demerit points system for driving licences will come into effect from July next year, as part of broader measures to improve road discipline and reduce traffic-related offences. (Newswire)
