At a time when most students his age are preparing for their A/Ls, Gamith Thushara, an 18-year-old student from Leeds International School, Panadura, has made Sri Lankan history by becoming the youngest ever to complete all levels of the Chartered Accountancy qualification.

This extraordinary milestone is not just a personal victory it is a shining example of what dedication, early direction, and the right guidance can achieve.

Starting Early – The Journey Begins

Gamith’s academic journey took a different turn when he completed his O/Ls a year ahead of his batch. In July 2022, he enrolled in onlineaccounting.lk to study AAT qualification joining students who were already a year older than him. From the beginning, he showed a rare combination of focus and discipline.

First, he sat for AAT Level 1 and emerged as Island 1st in January 2023, also securing a subject prize in Business Mathematics & Statistics. But this was just the beginning.

Consistency at the Top

  • July 2023Island 2nd in AAT Level 2
  • January 2024Island 1st in AAT Final with two subject prizes

His performance across all three levels of AAT proved that this wasn’t luck, it was consistency, commitment, and clarity of direction.

After completing AAT, he received exemptions and transitioned to Chartered Accountancy (CA Sri Lanka).

Climbing the CA Ladder

What happened next was unprecedented:

  • June 2024 – Passed CA Level 2 (Business Level 2) – All remaining objects in the first attempt
  • December 2024 – Passed CA Level 3 (Corporate Level) – Again, all 4 subjects in the first attempt
  • June 2025 – Passed CA Final Level (Strategic Level) –All 4 subjects in the first attempt, at just 18 years old

To date, there has never been another student in Sri Lanka to achieve this feat at this age. Gamith will turn 19 only in November 2025.

While Others Prepare for A/Ls…

While most students his age are preparing for A/Ls in 2025, Gamith has already finished one of the most prestigious and demanding professional qualifications in the country.

He was also crowned “Student of the Year” at the onlineaccounting.lk Prize Winners’ Awards Ceremony, a moment that symbolised not just his success, but the journey that made it possible.

A Quiet Force Behind the Journey

Although Gamith’s achievements speak volumes about his talent and discipline, he is also quick to acknowledge the environment that supported him. Since the start of his AAT journey in 2022, he has been learning entirely through onlineaccounting.lk, Sri Lanka’s pioneering virtual platform for professional accounting education.

From AAT Level 1 all the way to CA Final Level, he continued under the guidance of this institute, a rare full cycle success story. His learning journey included structured online lectures, live sessions, subject wise guidance, and constant motivation from lecturers.

This milestone is a testament not only to his brilliance but also to the growing accessibility and impact of online education for students outside the conventional academic timeline.

Final Words

Gamith Thushara’s story is more than just exam results, it’s proof that with early direction, proper mentorship, and unwavering commitment, anything is possible.

At just 18, he’s not just completed CA, he has inspired a new generation of students to believe that you don’t have to wait for success, you can chase it early.
