A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly possessing 413 litres of diesel without a valid permit or acceptable justification, Police said.
The arrest was made on March 2, 2026 by officers attached to the Police Special Task Force (STF) camp in Pugoda.
Acting on a tip-off, officers proceeded to the Buthpitiya area in the Malwathuhiripitiya Police Division on Monday evening, where the suspect was taken into custody along with the stock of diesel.
The suspect, a resident of the same area, was handed over to the Malwathuhiripitiya Police for further investigations.
Police said inquiries are continuing. (Newswire)
