Deputy Minister Nalin Hewage has challenged the opposition to prove that he previously said a Toyota Vitz car could be given for Rs. 1.2 million.

Addressing an election gathering, Hewage specifically challenged SJB MP S. M. Marikkar to prove that he had made such a statement, pledging to resign from his ministerial position if proven.

“Marikkar, I challenge you in front of the media — if you can prove by any means that I ever said a Vitz car can be given for Rs. 1.2 million, I will resign from my ministerial and parliamentary positions, stop doing politics for the JVP and NPP, and join your side to do any kind of work,” he said.
