The Sri Lanka Police have received a total of 429 election-related complaints from 03 March to 24 April, ahead of the 2025 Local Government Elections.
According to the Police, among the complaints, 61 are related to election violence and 222 are concerning election law violations.
During this period, 25 candidates and 98 supporters have been arrested, while 23 vehicles have been taken into Police custody.
Meanwhile, during the 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today, the Police have received a total of 31 election-related complaints.
Among the complaints, 03 are related to election violence and 20 are concerning election law violations.
The Police have arrested 02 candidates and 06 supporters during this period.
The 2025 Local Government Election is scheduled for 06 May 2025, with postal voting having commenced today. (Newswire)
