The Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tea Board and Helanhong Winery, has officially launched a pioneering wine infused with world-renowned Ceylon Tea. The unveiling took place during a diplomatic reception held at the St. Regis Beijing on February 5, 2026, to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 78th National Independence Day.
The launch was attended by high-ranking Chinese officials, including the Director General of the Asia Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ningxia Autonomous Region. The innovative product represents a fusion of Sri Lanka’s historic tea heritage and the rapidly expanding wine industry of China.
This collaboration was facilitated by the Provincial Government of Ningxia as a government-to-government initiative. The embassy also organized an exclusive pairing series that combined premium Ceylon Tea with wines produced by Helanhong Winery, located in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of North-Central China. Ningxia has recently emerged as one of China’s premier regions for high-quality viticulture.
Officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka stated that the project serves as a testament to cultural exchange and the deepening bilateral partnership between the two nations. (NewsWire)
