The Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL) has temporarily suspended its music licensing requirements for weddings, private parties and DJs, pending further decisions by its membership.
ACPOSL said a final decision on whether licensing for weddings and private events, including birthday parties, should continue will be taken at its general meeting in November.
According to the association, any permanent change to the licensing system would require approval from two-thirds of its membership, as its Board of Directors cannot make such a decision independently.
ACPOSL also said the licensing requirement for DJs performing at events has been temporarily suspended while discussions continue over international rights arrangements.
The association stressed that its licensing framework applies to the commercial use of music at venues and events and does not apply to private functions held at homes. (Newswire)
