Decision to Open Universities on 4th for Staff “Bit pre-mature & irrational” FUTA

Federation of University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) has written to Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) against the decision to reopen the university for staff on May 4th.

Earlier this week UGC announced that universities will reopen in 3 stages.

  • Stage 01 will be for all academic and non academic staff, and the premises will be open to them from the 04th of May.
  • Stage 02, the final year students of universities will be permitted to enter the premises from the 11th of May.
  • Stage 03, the universities will be open for all students from the 18th of May.

FUTA in its letter to the UGC says they feel decision to reopen the universities on 4th even before the Government eases down social movement restrictions seems a bit pre-mature & irrational.
