The Principal of a school in the Opanayake area has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student of the school.
The suspect was arrested based on a complaint filed by the student’s father with the Opanayake Police.
The father of the child had claimed that the man had sexually abused his son during after school hours on 03 March.
The student is reported to have returned home on multiple occasions looking mentally affected.
Following this, the parents of the student had inquired into the reason behind this and had found out that he was being sexually abused.
The victim has been admitted to the Balangoda Base Hospital for treatment.
The suspect, who is a resident of Balangoda, will be produced before the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court today.
Meanwhile, a medical report on the student will also be submitted to the Court by the Police. (NewsWire)
