A man sought over an incident involving a foreign tourist in Thirukkovil has been arrested, police said.
The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Kalawanchikudi, was taken into custody over an alleged indecent act reported by a New Zealand national who had arrived in Sri Lanka on a tour.
The tourist lodged a complaint with the Tourist Police stating that on October 25, while travelling from Arugam Bay towards Passikudah, a young man behaved indecently during her excursion. She had also posted a video of the incident on social media.
According to police, investigations revealed that the incident had occurred in the Thirukkovil area. The complaint was initially made on September 24.
Further inquiries are being conducted by the Tourist Police Division. (Newswire)
