More foreign returnees infected with coronavirus

Over 30 Sri Lankan foreign returnees are among the 66 COVID-19 patients detected in Sri Lanka yesterday (03).

The Government Information Department said the group consists of 19 returnees from Qatar, 14 from Bangladesh, and 2 from Kuwait.

Meanwhile, the remaining patients have been identified as 31 Navy Personnel who had tested positive for COVID-19.

The number of coronavirus patients in Sri Lanka rose to 1749 with the latest detection.

The Ministry of Health says currently there are 902 active cases, while 66 individuals are under observation in various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

The Ministry further said 836 patients have been discharged from the hospital after complete recovery.

Eleven deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
