Member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Harin Fernando today apologised for mispronouncing the word “Archbishop” in Sinhala when issuing a statement regarding the Archbishop of Colombo.

Addressing a political rally in Medirigiriya over the weekend, Fernando had accused his eminence, the Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith of engaging in politics.

The former Badulla District Parliamentarian today extended his apologies to the Catholic Community, the Bishops’ Conference and the Archbishop, while addressing a political meeting of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya held in Badulla.

Harin Fernando said his parents have brought him up teaching him to identify right from wrong.

“I am not prepared to shut my mouth due to people slinging mud at me, and neither am I afraid of anyone,” he added.
