Opposition MPs in Parliament questioned the absence of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa at a time when the debate on expenditure heads of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was taken up in Parliament today.
Cheif Opposition Whip Lakshaman Kiriella pointing out the absence of subject Minister Namal Rajapaksa, enquired about the latter’s participation in the debate.
Responding to the inquiry, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed Parliament that he was not notified by the Minister on his absence from the debate today.
“He was unwell recently. I don’t know whether he recovered,” the Speaker informed Parliament.
Opposition MP Thushara Indunil also thereafter informed Parliament that he wished to share his views on Sports and would like to do so in the presence of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
When he once again inquired on the whereabouts of the subject Minister, the chair of Parliament failed to respond. (NewsWire)
