Public assistance has been sought to apprehend a man from Narammala who is wanted for allegedly abducting and raping a 13- year-old girl twice.

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) said the suspect, Madhushan Kanishka Bulathsinhala, had escaped from Police custody and is evading arrest.

The suspect is reported to have initially abducted the child on 14 December, 2020, following which the Police was alerted.

The Police were unable to find the child, after which she had returned home on 25 December, 2020.

The child was admitted to hospital and was discharged on 30 December, 2020.

The suspect had thereafter abducted the teenager once again on the same day she had returned from hospital.

As the Police were unable to find the child, the NCPA had appointed an Authorized Officer to take over and investigate the case. The Officer had commenced investigations from 06 January 2021.

A special team from the NCPA had been dispatched during which the child had been rescued on Monday (11).

The teenage girl who was rescued from the man’s house in Narammala has been admitted to the Narammala Teaching hospital.

The NCPA said however, the man had escaped from Police custody and is absconding.

The NCPA said the suspect’s parents have also been charged for aiding the man by providing their residence to commit the crime.

The public have been requested to contact the Police via 0112 779 196 if they receive any information on the suspect. (NewsWire)
