TNA MP Shanakiyan questioned by 6 Police stations

Parliamentarian Shanakiyan Rasamanickam was interrogated by six Police officials on the protest held from Pottuvil to Polikandy this month.

The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi MP said he was questioned by officers from the Muthur, Kattankudy, Kilinochchi, Mankulam, Valaichenai, and Samanthurai Police stations.

A statement was recorded from MP Rasamanickam at his office today.

MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam said via Facebook that he explained the objective of the protest which was held to demand justice for Tamils in the North and East.

A 03-day protest march, called P2P, was launched in Pottuvil in Ampara on 3rd February and concluded at Polikandy in Jaffna on 6th February.

The awareness protest march was conducted to object the opposition raised against the Tamils in the North and East.

Tamil national Alliance MP M.A. Sumanthiran said at the time that it was carried out to protest the Government’s constant restrictions on minorities, land grabbing in the North, release of Tamil political prisoners, and all other human rights violations in the country.

The protest march was conducted with the support of the Tamil National Alliance, and despite many arguments with the Police in various areas. (NewsWire)
