CID wants CSR to handover copy of SJB document on Easter attacks given to Catholic priests

The Centre for Society and Religion (CSR) has been requested to provide information of the confidential report that was handed over to a group of Catholic Priests by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs on Monday (26).

The request has been made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from the Executive Director of the Centre for Society & Religion (CSR) in Colombo 10.

A group of SJB MPs had handed over a document containing the statements of MPs Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando with regard to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

MP Nanayakkara had briefed the Catholic priests on the current situation that has arisen after the publication of the report by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the attacks.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said all information pertaining to the Easter attacks is vital.

He said hence, the Catholic priests have been requested to hand over a copy of the document handed over by the SJB to the CID.

DIG Ajith Rohana said the CID and Terrorism Investigation Division are continuing investigations into the Easter attacks. (NewsWire)
