A tense meeting was held at the Taj Samudra Hotel this morning between Sri Lankan cricketers and Sri Lanka Cricket officials regarding the contract issue.

The Sri Lankan cricketers have to depart for England tomorrow for the England tour and players are yet to reach a settlement on the contract issue.

Players had refused to sign the England tour  contract over transperancy issues in the new annual contracts.

But, they had agreed to play the tournament even without payment.

However, players have later informed the SLC that they will sign the relevant sports law and ICC declarations but have refused to sign the sponsorship clauses of the SLC.

“The meeting got heated and players were threatened that they will be suspended for 3 years if they don’t sign, but they refused and they were asked to vacate the hotel as well. But later they have now been given time till the evening to reach an agreement, ” a source close to the players told NewsWire.
