A tense situation arose between the Police and a group of university students who were engaged in a protest opposite the Railway Station in Fort, Colombo today.
The protest was staged by the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) against the “Kotelawala private university” in Sri Lanka.
A clash broke out between the protesters and the Police, after the latter attempted to take custody of a banner printed by the protesting university students.
The protest has been staged at a time when public gatherings have been prohibited under the newly issued health guidelines on COVID-19 in line with the lifting of the islandwide travel restriction today, after a period of nearly one month. (NewsWire)
