Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harin Fernando has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) tomorrow (28).
Issuing a notice to the MP, the CID said MP Fernando has been requested to appear before the Department at 10.00 am.
The CID further said MP Harin Fernando has been summoned to record a further statement with regard to the press conference he had held on the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
In April 2021, the SJB MP was summoned to the CID after he had revealed certain facts with regard to the Easter attacks during a Parliament session.
Concerns were raised by several opposition MPs in Parliament too, claiming that there were alleged attempts by the Government to arrest MP Fernando citing the investigations into the Easter attacks.
MP Harin Fernando had thereafter filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition with the Supreme Court seeking an order preventing his arrest by the CID.
The Supreme Court extended the injunction order after the Attorney General’s Department informed the Court that MP Fernando will not be arrested until the 1st of September. (NewsWire)
