Another 15,000 doses of Sputnik V Covid vaccine arrives in SL

Another stock of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine manufactured in Russia arrived in Sri Lanka today.

The consignment consisting of 15,000 doses of the vaccine arrived in a special flight chartered by the Emirates.

The new stock which was airfreighted from Russia reached the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this morning. 

Sri Lanka’s National Medical Regulatory Authority approved the emergency use of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine on 04th March.

The first batch of 15,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine arrived on 4th May, with the Government rolling out the vaccination drive to inoculate residents of Gothatuwa.

Sri Lanka thereafter received a stock of 50,000 doses of the vaccine on 28th May, and another 65,000 doses on 11th June.

A consignment consisting of 50,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine arrived on 7th July.

The Government is expected to receive a total of 07 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine as per the order placed by the State PharmaceuticalCorporation of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
