Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harin Fernando yesterday responded to the comments made by Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara with regard to his recent revelations pertaining to the 2019 Easter attacks.

On Tuesday (09), MP Harin Fernando had claimed that the wife of the Easter attacks ring leader Zaharan Hashim had testified that Intelligence officers had met with Zaharan at his residence.

His second revelation was that two lorries were seized at the Gelanigama entrance on the 4th of April 2019, which were released on the orders of a Senior Police officer.

Minister Sarath Weerasekara told Parliament yesterday that MP Fernando’s two claims were a lie and denied the allegations adding that the lorry mentioned by the MP had transported ornamental fish and not explosives.

Responding to Minister Weerasekara’s comments, MP Fernando told Parliament that the Minister had not submitted the testimonies made to the Presidential Commission appointed to probe the Easter attacks but had instead only informed about the investigations being conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The SJB MP further said he had mentioned a lorry that had been inspected on the 4th of April 2019, while Minister Weerasekara was talking about a lorry that had reportedly been inspected on the following day, the 5th of April 2019.

MP Harin Fernando went on to say that he stands by his accusation pertaining to the 2019 Easter attacks. (NewsWire)
