The Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party today held its mass rally and protest march in Colombo despite attempts by the Police to prevent it.
The Police had denied entry to Colombo for several protesters arriving to participate in the protest march.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thaduwa said measures had been taken to prevent the event as the Health Services Director General had filed a complaint claiming it was being organized without the approval of the health authorities.
Despite various attempts, including court orders, to prevent the protest march, the SJB has held the rally in Colombo.
Hundreds of people, led by SJB leader MP Sajith Premadasa and fellow party members had participated in the rally at Hyde Park in Colombo. (NewsWire)
