The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) launched a joint operation with the Sri Lanka Police utilizing a Bell 212 helicopter and drones to track the traffic flow in Colombo yesterday (25 November 2021).

The programme was implemented on the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the guidance provided by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.

The SLAF said traffic congestion is a consistent issue that has arisen for commuters who travel to and from Colombo and suburbs due to the gradual resumption of the new normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.

They further said the missions were carried out at the Nelum Pokuna Junction, Ayurveda Junction, Diyatha Uyana area, Panchikawatta area, New Kelani Bridge area, and the Parliament Junction. (NewsWire)
