Considerable decrease in the purchase of Chinese items in Bangladesh for their poor quality

Chinese items are witnessing a sharp drop in demand and a noticeable decline in sales in Bangali marketplaces.

The decrease occurred mainly as a result of the poor quality of Chinese products, compared to popular brands produced in other countries.

Observers assumed that if the Chinese products continue to be of low quality, it will result in customers loss in Bangladesh thus the eventual collapse of the market.

According to economists, Chinese brands are unsustainable since the majority of them lack warranties and that some pieces of Chinese products are often unavailable at a reasonable price, resulting in a market crisis and price increase.

In addition, vendors mentioned that people refrained from buying Beijing’s products because they do not have official warranties in case products needed a repair, adding that Chinese items are no longer of the same quality as they were in the past.

Also, buyers indicated that they prefer buying Japanese products to Chinese ones due to their long-lasting properties as well as outstanding and high quality, especially in smartphones.

“When I get a Chinese color, it has a validity of one year, but when I use it after six months, it shows that it has dried up. Since I will buy the product at the same price, why would I buy the Chinese one? ” said Tasnia Mim.

Comparing Chinese products to their peers, the director of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Importers Association, Rezwanul Hoque, said that “the European, American, Japanese, or Korean products undergo a process of research and development to meet specific standards, a long time before the product is released in the market, which is not seen in the case of China products.”

“Therefore, I would say that the market cannot be captured only by cheap products. The market we have created now will offer competitive prices and high-quality products in the market,” Hoque added.
