Inspector-General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne has been instructed to beef up security in Colombo and highly populated other areas during the December festive season.
The directive has been issued by Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara in view of the Christmas and New Year festivals.
The Minister has ordered the Police to implement special traffic plans in highly populated areas and to deploy officers in Civil attire to apprehend criminals.
The Police have been further ordered to conduct mobile and vehicle patrols in the respective areas to ensure security and the prevention of crimes. (NewsWire)
