The driver and assistant of a lorry have escaped unhurt after the vehicle had toppled over near the 24km post in Ella last evening.
The lorry had been transporting timber from Bandarawela to Galle when they had faced the unfortunate incident.
The vehicle had struck the safety fence on the side of the road and had toppled on the side of the road and had fortunately missed the 1000 ft precipice on the other side.
The driver of the lorry has revealed that a sudden fault in the brakes had caused the accident.
