Chairman of the state-run Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation (SLRC) Reginald Cooray has handed over his letter of resignation today.

Reginald Cooray has addressed the staff of the SLRC, after which he had handed over his office and official vehicle and had left the premises by 12.30 pm.

His resignation comes after the Government is reported to have decided to make changes to the high ranking posts of State Media Institutions and other institutions.

It had also been decided to make a change to the SLRC Chairman’s Post.

Chairman of the National Library of Sri Lanka Sonala Gunawardena had been selected to be appointed as the new Chairman of the SLRC.

Both Chairmen had been informed that there would be a reshuffle of posts.

Thereby, Reginald Cooray was to be appointed as the Chairman of the National Library of Sri Lanka, while Sonala Gunawardena was to be appointed as the Chairman of the SLRC.

However, handing in his resignation today, Reginald Cooray has revealed that he was not interested in such an exchange of positions. (NewsWire)
