United National Party (UNP) Senior Vice Chairman Sagala Ratnayaka has been appointed as the National Organizer of the Party.

Sagala Ratnayake replaces UNP member Navin Dissanayake who declined the post last year as he was not satisfied with the party’s reorganization procedure.

Commenting on the new appointment, Navin Dissanayake said he and fellow member Arjuna Ranatunge have pointed out that rotating members within the party would not make a difference.

Reiterating that the party must be completely reorganized, Dissanayake said if the UNP fails to do so, there would be no future for the party.

Navin Dissanayake further said that he was still a member of the Working Committee and the leader of the Nuwara Eliya District.

Meanwhile, UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said as Navin Dissanayake had declined the post the party had appointed Sagala Ratnayake instead.

The appointment was made when the Working Committee members for 2022 were appointed and as the post had remained vacant for almost a year, he explained.

Range Bandara further said the reorganization of the United National Party has already commenced under Sagala Ratnayaka. (NewsWire)
