The verdict on the murder case filed against Ratnapura District MP Premalal Jayasekara will be issued by the Court of Appeal on the 31st of March 2022.
The decision was announced today after taking up for hearing a petition filed by MP Jayasekara.
In his petition, the MP had requested the court to acquit and free him from all charges and the death sentence imposed on him pertaining to the case.
The petition was filed by MP Premalal Jayasekara together with three others who had also been issued a death sentence.
In July 2020, the Ratnapura High Court sentenced to death Premalal Jayasekara on charges of murdering another individual in Kahawatte in 2015. (NewsWire)
