Parliament road closed for two days

The Sri Lanka Police has taken measures to close the roads leading to the Parliament of Sri Lanka in view of the Parliament sessions held today and tomorrow (06). 

In a statement, the Police said that Parliamentarians and Parliament staff are unable to travel to and from the Parliament due to public protests staged on the road leading to the Parliament.

The Police said Parliament affairs are being affected due to the obstructions caused by the public protests. 

They said thereby, that several roads leading to, and in and around the Parliament have been closed today and tomorrow. 

Roads have been closed from the Polduwa Junction to the Jayanthipura Junction, and from Jayanthipura Junction to the road leading to the Parliament on Densel Kobbekaduwa Mawatha.

All byroads leading to the  Parliament will also be closed during this period, while residents of the closed roads can state their reason for travel and will be permitted to use the roads. 

Extending their regrets for the inconvenience caused to the public as a result of the road closure, the Police have requested motorists to use alternative routes. (NewsWire)
