Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam today slammed former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and former President Maithripala Sirisena for continuing to support the government.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Shanakiyan said the vote held today to elect a new Deputy Speaker has exposed the drama being staged within the Parliament.
He alleged that despite being seated in the opposition, MP Ranil Wickremesinghe had approached many MPs in the opposition urging them to support the government in the vote.
MP Shanakiyan also slammed Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Leader Maithripala Sirisena for renominating Ranjith Siyambalapitiya for the post of Deputy Speaker, which the ruling party Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said it will support.
“The vote has exposed that there are only 65 Parliamentarians in support of Sri Lanka and its people. There are 148 MPs in Parliament who are in favour of the Rajapaksas and are attempting to save them,” he said.
The Batticaloa district MP added that no matter what motion is presented to Parliament, including a No-Confidence Motion, those staging dramas and the thieves in the Parliament will never vote against the Rajapaksas. (NewsWire)
