Main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) in a statement says that they have agreed to be part of a national program to solve the current crisis based on the proposals submitted by Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL).

SJB says that it believes the proposal put forward by the BASL to abolish the executive presidency as the fundamental requirement in resolving the current economic and political crisis in the country.

Therefore, the SJB insists that the party along with its coalition will support a national program to resolve the current crisis, based on the proposals put forward by the BASL.

“We have decided to be part of a national program to solve the current crisis based on implementing the Bar Association proposal to abolish the executive presidency” SJB MP Harin Fernando told NewsWire.

“If that proposal is implemented, Samagi Jana Balawegaya has no hesitation to be part of an interim government” MP Fernando added.

Media Minister Nalaka Godahewa this morning said that the proposal by the Bar Association on 23rd April 2022 seems to offers several practical solutions to restore stability in the country and focus on key economic issues. “There should be a proper discussion on these” he added. (NewsWire)
