Long queues have continued to be reported across the country today as well for gas and fuel.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) says a ship consisting of 40,000 Metric Tonnes of diesel is expected to arrive tomorrow.
The ship is en route to Sri Lanka from India and is the final shipment being received under the Credit Line that was obtained from India.
Passengers were severely inconvenienced today after public buses were drastically reduced by 80% due to the lack of fuel.
Meanwhile, the government has taken a decision to prioritize hotels and domestic gas during distribution.
Primary gas supplier, Litro Gas Lanka said that currently, Sri Lanka is in possession of 3500 MT of LP gas.
The company further said that another 3900 MT of gas is being unloaded from a vessel that had docked at the Colombo Port.
However, people have been standing in queues for several days in a bid to purchase domestic gas cylinders.
Furthermore, several protests were reported across Sri Lanka today demanding fuel.
A protest was staged blocking the Baseline Road from Dematagoda.
The Galle Road was obstructed from Dehiwala, while Panchikawatte Junction in Colombo was completely blocked by protesters demanding fuel.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion. (NewsWire)
