Touring Australian cricketers have claimed that protesters who were removed off the ramparts of the Galle Fort overlooking the Galle Cricket Stadium last Wednesday (29) were not a distraction for their batters.
A number of protesters with anti-government banners and placards were forcefully removed from the Fort by Military Personnel as the 1st test between Sri Lanka and Australia was underway at the cricket stadium.
According to The Morning Newspaper, Sri Lanka Army had claimed that they had removed anti-government protesters from the Fort so that they would not be a distraction to the Australian batsmen.
However, the Australian team has denied such claims and has stated that what was happening on the Fort was not an issue or a hindrance to their performance. (NewsWire)
Army spokesman had told The Morning newspaper that protesters were removed so that they would not be a distraction to batters.
The Aus team, who were batting that day, have said what was happening on the Fort was not an issue for them at all.
