Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake today responded to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s challenge to revive Sri Lanka’s economy in 06 months.

Speaking in Parliament, the MP revealed that the Prime Minister had taken his statement out of context.

MP Dissanayake said he had only stated that the country must be stabilized and that an election must be held after a period of 06-months.

“What I said is that a Cabinet must be appointed by us and used to stabilize the country in a short period of time. Thereafter, an election must be held in 06 months. The public must be given the opportunity to elect their representatives and form a new government,” he said.

Stating that he had only said that they will provide immediate solutions for the current fuel, gas, and medicine issues in the country within the next six months, the MP said that after that an election must be held.

“The reason we should go for an election is to overcome this issue. We need not only a stable government but a trustworthy government,” he added.

The JVP leader further said that the public will not have faith in any government that is established under the current Parliament.

MP Dissanayake also said that a new government with the mandate of the public has to address the long-term economic issues in the country.

MP Dissanayake also slammed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for making a joke of his speech in Parliament.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s gibe, MP Dissanayake pointed out that the Prime Minister has never been able to relate to the hardships of the public.

“You have always lived in your own world. You are a leader who is numb to the difficulties of the citizens. You have never lived in parallel to the lives of the ordinary citizens of this country,” he said.

MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake further said your statements in Parliament prove this and you do so to create news content.

“Your whole life you have engaged in politics by playing games, striking deals, and inciting people from every side. Remember, this country is facing this situation due to the games played by politicians like you. A country cannot be run by engaging in such political games,” he added. (NewsWire)
