Anti-government protesters have decided to remove the protest site that was set up near the Prime Minister’s official residence, Temple Trees, in Colombo.

‘No-Deal Gama’ was set up by the protesters after UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed as the Prime Minister in May 2022.

He was appointed Prime Minister, by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa following the resignation of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa after the 09 May unrest.

Protesters set up the ‘No-Deal Gama’ protest site outside the Temple Trees soon after Wickremesinghe’s appointment as Prime Minister.

The removal of the protest site comes hours after Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka today. (NewsWire)
