Electricity tariff new rates : Full document released

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted approval to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to increase the electricity bill on average by 75% for all categories.

According to the PUCSL, the 75% increase in the electricity bill is the first since 2013.

PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake told the media today, that the increase in the electricity bill will come into effect from tomorrow (10). 

He further said the CEB has been allowed to increase the electricity bill by 264% for consumers whose usage is 0- 30 units.

Janaka Ratnayake went on to say that the bills of consumers with 31- 60 units will be increased by 211%.

The electricity bills of consumers of 61- 90 units will be increased by 125% and consumers of 91- 120 units by 89%, he added.

The PUCSL Chairman said the electricity bills of consumers of 121- 180 units will be increased by 79%. (NewsWire)
