Venerable Balangoda Kashyapa Thero has been arrested in connection to the anti-government protests that were held in Colombo in July.
The Police said the Thero was arrested after reporting to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to record a statement today.
He has been accused of forcibly entering the Prime Minister’s Official residence, Temple Trees in Colombo during the public protests.
Following his arrest, Venerable Balangoda Kashyapa Thero was produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
He has been remanded until the 26th of August 2022. (NewsWire)
