State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has requested heads of state banks to consider the possibility of granting optimal financial relief to loans obtained by entrepreneurs whilst safeguarding the banking sector.
The state minister pointed out that Sri Lankan entrepreneurs have been severely affected as a result of the state banks’ increasing their interest rates on the provided loans.
Stating that the move was necessary to protect the country’s banking system, he also stressed that it was necessary to protect the entrepreneurs of the nation.
State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya urged the state banks to explore the option of providing relief to entrepreneurs under the current guidelines that have been issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
