Virat Kohli breaks Sangakkara’s ICC semi & final record

India’s Virat Kohli has surpassed Kumar Sangakkara’s record to become the cricketer with the most runs in the ICC’s T20/ ODI semi and finals category.

Kohli broke Sangakkara’s record of 531 runs in 16 innings, with his new record of 536 runs in 12 innings.

Australia’s Ricky Ponting is in 3rd rank with 509 runs in 14 innings, followed by India’s Saurav Ganguly with 489 runs in 6 innings.

Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardena rounds up the top five with 484 runs in 16 innings.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has also become the first batter in world cricket to go past the 4,000-run mark in T20Is. 

He achieved the feat in the ongoing T20 World Cup semi-final against England at the Adelaide Oval, in which he scored 50 runs in 40 balls. (NewsWire)
