Foreigner arrested for destroying Police fine book

A Chinese national has been arrested on charges of having obstructed the duties of a motor traffic Police officer in Colpetty. 

According to reports, the foreign national who had been approached by the Police officer for a traffic violation had allegedly destroyed the officer’s traffic fine book. 

The Colpetty Police said the man has been identified as a 40-year-old English teacher at an international school in Colombo.

Security cameras at the Motor Traffic Department had captured the Chinese national’s vehicle violating road lane rules. 

Thereby, motor traffic Police officers had stopped the vehicle and requested the driving licence of the man. 

At the time, the Chinese national had taken the traffic fine book of the Police officer and ripped it.

He was arrested yesterday and produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
